Lomi Lomi Massage

The Hawaiians look at things in terms of energy flow, following the idea that an idea or belief can block energy flow as much as muscle tension can. Lomi Lomi helps release the blockages as well as the knots, whilst at the same time giving the energy new direction. Thus Lomi Lomi is not just a physical experiences; it also facilitates healing on the mental, emotional and spiritual levels as well. Clients feel relieved of tension, stress and tight muscles. Often they say that they feel much looser, are in less pain and lighter than when they arrived.

This whole body massage is given in a fluid, sometimes deep rhythmic motion depending on the client’s pressure preference using the forearms as well as the hands. It can be as relaxing or as firm as you request. Some people have described this as feeling like waves moving over the body. Another feature is that different parts of the body may be massaged at the same time, for example one arm or hand may be working on the shoulder and the other hand may be working on the leg. This assists the recipients in totally relaxing as it is impossible or at least extremely difficult for the brain to focus on the two different areas at once. By not working on areas in isolation a deep sense of balance and harmony is achieved. Then if some areas do need more attention or deeper work it is easier and not as intense to manipulate relaxed muscles than tense muscles. Under body and full body strokes also help to relax and free the energy. According to Huna Philosophy, energy also gets blocked in the joints. Gentle stretches of the body and gentle rotation of the joints are therefore also incorporated to assist the release of tensions, tight muscles and increase the flow of energy.

The energizing effects of these focused and exquisite movements are combined with clear healing intent  for positive change on all levels.
